REV ATLAS

The Reveries imprint starts a new chapter with the beginning of the Atlas series, focused on collaborations from artists that gravitate around the collective. The first chapter is the juxtaposition of a two-round joint effort between Noroi (as the constant presence) and Kallax and F L V X X X respectively on the other half of the controls. The first phase is a recontextualization of the Berlin techno sound, a proper deconstruction of sorts that uses its tropes for a new future of clubbing configurations. “Free From Jury & Executioner” leans towards a breakbeat infusion of variable gradations and interpretations. “Whenever Now” explores instead an exotic and intoxicating concoction of dubby low end pressure and house aesthetics in full Panorama Bar fashion. The second phase takes place as an abstraction of UK Techno and Bass with splashes of IDM, yet with its feet firm on the busiest hours of the dancefloor. “Ice Palace” takes on abstract techno sound sculpture procedures as much as it takes on grime and dubstep drum patterns and aesthetics. “Shattered Ballroom” delves further down the glacial and expressionist mood of its predecessor, evolving into a hybrid form that stands between the edge of techno and footwork. “Double Phase” presents itself as a fully realized vision, blurring the lines between genres and styles with ease and a clear direction. Providing still just a taste of what is yet to come.
